About

Statement

I have been interested in buildings and spaces since I was a child. This interest in architecture and engineering has been obvious in much of my work since I was very young. My love of photography began when I recieved a digital SLR for my sixteenth birthday, which ignited a passion that drives much of my creative output. I am not a photographer by trade, nor have I taken anything more than an introductory level photography course in school.

I am a student studying Urban Planning at the University of Cincinnati’s college of DAAP, however I do not concern myself with just one type of design. I practice many different disciplines and enjoy Cartography, Product Design, Architecture, GIS Analytics, Furniture Design, and 3D Visualization just to name a few.

Methodology

Although I do not adhere specifically to one format of image capture, I primarily use a Sinar F2 4×5 monorail view camera and Schneider-Kruznach lenses. In the past I have extensively used 35mm, 120 and digital, but I have found that nothing comes close to helping me achieve my photographic vision than the view camera. Having complete control over perspective and depth of field, coupled with access to some of the greatest lenses on earth make the view camera an obvious choice for me. As many photographers embrace the convenience and speed of the digital era, I have chosen to embrace the format that knows no compromises, and requires no batteries. Using a view camera is a meticulous and calculated form of photography, which I believe reflects the precision and detail often found in the design of built spaces.
