New blog, new site, and “new” photos

While I was home on break I came across four rolls of exposed 120 film that were shot several years ago…when I still shot medium format. I had no idea what was on these four rolls of film and decided to cross process them in E6 chemistry (I don’t shoot print film so the only chemistry I have is for E6). The result? Well, I lost all the first two rolls with the exception of the shot above. It turns out, if you process rollfilm in the drum I use for 4×5 it will come unraveled and wrap itself inside the drum, thus blocking the flow of chemistry to the rest of the film resulting in film that is black(!)
Either way, that was the only frame I could salvage and I was really impressed with the color accuracy and density. Typically, if you cross process color print film in E6 chemistry the result is under-developed transparencies with color shifts. This result was anything but that. The transparency has really accurate colors, fine sharpness, smooth grain, and proper density.
The remaining two rolls of film I processed in the correct drum, but they came out under developed by probably 3 stops or so. I’m not surprised, it was different film and much much older. I’d post some images from the last two rolls but I’m going to work a bit more on them in photoshop.
As you can see, I just got finished doing a massive redesign of my site, which is something I have been meaning to do for quite some time now (considering my site has basically been nothing since its conception last spring.
I think I like the photoblog format much better, and since I switched to Word Press uploading and sharing content is a breeze (so expect frequent updates from here on out).
